BATAVIA, Ohio — Village Council has approved a new monthly newsletter, called “The Armory,” to give residents a regular, direct source of information on local government business and community happenings, the Village of Batavia announced this week.
The newsletter will go out in both an electronic edition and a printed edition for residents who prefer a paper copy once distribution begins, the village said in a Facebook post. Each issue is planned to include village and council updates written in plain language, a calendar of upcoming events, spotlights on the people who serve Batavia and the businesses along Main Street, project and service updates, and answers to questions residents commonly ask.
Village officials said the newsletter’s name comes from the building at 65 N. Second St. that has long served as one of Batavia’s most recognizable gathering places. The Clermont County Historical Society recently relocated its headquarters into the building, which it describes as a beautifully restored space that continues to host village governance functions and community events, according to the historical society.
The village said the newsletter is meant to add to, not replace, its other communication channels, which include a rebuilt village website and an expanded social media presence.
Batavia is led by Mayor C. Scott Runck and a six-member council that includes Vice Mayor Steve Staton and members Laura Zagar, Mark Wilson, Jim Owens, Randy Dorsey and Tom Smith, according to the village’s website.
Residents can sign up to receive the newsletter through a form the village is circulating on its website and social media, the village said.
