BATAVIA, Ohio — Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities is looking for families, businesses and community groups to staff decorated stops along its seventh annual Halloween Drive-Thru, set for Oct. 20 at the agency’s Batavia campus.
The free event runs from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 2040 U.S. 50, where visitors will drive a route lined with Halloween-themed displays, the agency said in a Facebook post.
Clermont DD, a public agency that provides support services to Clermont County residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities across every stage of life, from early intervention for infants through adult services, started the drive-thru in 2020 to give the community a way to celebrate Halloween safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has grown into an annual tradition, drawing more than 200 people last year, the agency said.
The agency provides the parking spaces; vendors are asked to bring their own decorations, ranging from simple car setups to elaborate graveyard scenes, according to the agency. Costumes and decorations are required, and vendors are encouraged, though not required, to hand out candy or other treats. Because it is a true drive-thru, attendees will not exit their vehicles, and vendors must be set up by 6:45 p.m., the agency said.
Anyone interested in reserving a spot, discussing electrical needs or coordinating a theme should contact Megan Werring at [email protected] or 513-732-5028 by Oct. 9, according to the agency.
