PIERCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The playground at Locust Corner Park is set to reopen in time for the weekend after crews installed new drainage and a new slide and laid down a fresh layer of mulch, Pierce Township said.
The township said its service crews were spreading the new mulch this week, with the remaining work expected to be finished Friday, July 17. The playground is expected to reopen once that work wraps up.
The improvements include a new slide and a new drainage system beneath the play area, upgrades intended to keep the surface usable after wet weather. Fresh mulch was added across the playground as a finishing step.
Locust Corner Park, at 961 Locust Corner Road, is one of the centerpieces of the Pierce Township park system. In addition to the playground, the park offers a paved walking path, picnic tables, baseball fields and basketball and tennis courts. It sits next to the Pierce Township Police Department and adjoins the Pierce Township Cemetery.
The park is also home to the Pierce Township History Trail, a walking path lined with historical markers that carry QR codes visitors can scan to learn more about the community’s past. The township hosts community events at the park and its outdoor stage throughout the year.
Pierce Township is one of the townships of Clermont County and is governed by a three-member board of trustees. The township maintains its parks through its service department, with a parks office located on Locust Corner Road.
