LOVELAND, Ohio — Loveland-Symmes Fire Department Assistant Chief Bruce Hawk received the Garry Briese IAFC Safety Performance Award this week at the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ Fire-Rescue International conference in Kansas City, the department said in a Facebook post.
The award, presented by the IAFC’s Safety, Health and Survival Section and sponsored by NTA Life, a Horace Mann company, recognizes fire service leaders for their contributions to firefighter health and safety, according to the department.
Hawk also earned his Chief Fire Officer designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence, a credential available to chief officers at the rank of battalion chief or above who accumulate at least 150 points through a combination of education and professional experience, according to the center. The designation is intended to recognize career achievement and encourage continued professional development among fire service leaders.

“These achievements are a testament to Chief Hawk’s dedication to the fire service and to his commitment to making firefighters safer and strengthening the organizations they serve,” the department said in its post.
Loveland-Symmes Fire Department, headquartered at 126 S. Lebanon Road, is a private fire company governed by a board of directors that provides fire and emergency medical services to Loveland and Symmes Township.
The department said it was proud to have Hawk on its staff and looked forward to celebrating the honors with him in Kansas City.
