MILFORD, Ohio — Milford Community Fire Department has purchased new thermal imaging cameras for its firefighters after receiving $4,500 in combined donations from two local organizations, the department said in a Facebook post.
The Frontier Days committee donated $2,000 and the Milford Community Firefighters’ Club gave $2,500 toward the devices, known as TICs, the department said. The new cameras replace older-generation equipment the department described as obsolete.

Thermal imaging cameras detect infrared radiation, allowing firefighters to see through smoke, locate victims and identify hot spots during structural fire attack and overhaul operations, the department said.
Milford Community Fire Department is a private, nonprofit corporation contracted by the city of Milford to provide fire and EMS services from a single station on U.S. 50 near Milford Parkway. The department is staffed by a mix of career firefighters, volunteers and paid-per-call personnel.
Frontier Days, which began in 1965, is Milford’s longest-running annual festival, drawing crowds each spring to Riverside Park for a parade, live music and family activities.
