NEW RICHMOND, Ohio — The New Richmond Fire & EMS Social Fund has launched a monthlong carwash fundraiser to help a department fire cadet and her family after her father and stepmother were seriously injured in a car crash over the weekend.
The department said in a Facebook post that the cadet’s parents are facing a long recovery, along with an extended loss of income and unexpected financial strain. To help, the Social Fund is selling tickets to a Mike’s Carwash fundraiser running Nov. 3 through Dec. 3, with half the proceeds from every wash sold going directly toward the family’s expenses.
Tickets are $11 for a basic wash and $22 for an ultimate wash. Residents who want to buy in can email [email protected] with their name, email address, number of washes, wash type and preferred payment method — Venmo, cash or check. Venmo payments can be sent to @nrfems, and checks should be made out to the New Richmond Fire & EMS Social Fund.
Because the washes are being sold through advance orders, physical tickets and electronic wash codes won’t go out until after the fundraiser closes Dec. 3, according to the department.
“New Richmond has always been a community that comes together when someone needs a helping hand,” the department said in its post. “Now is our opportunity to show one of our own that they are not alone.”
The cadet is a participant in New Richmond Fire & EMS’s cadet program, which is open to residents ages 14 through 18 who are interested in firefighting and emergency medical careers. Cadets train alongside department members, ride along on calls and learn emergency protocols, equipment use and teamwork, with many going on to become firefighters or paramedics.
New Richmond Fire & EMS was established in 2006 and protects New Richmond village and parts of Ohio Township in Clermont County, operating out of two stations with a mix of full-time staff, part-time employees and volunteers. The department’s motto is “Doing Our Best In The Worst Of Times.”
