BATAVIA, Ohio — A power outage knocked out electricity at the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office administrative building Wednesday, forcing the office to suspend concealed-carry licensing and background-check services for the day.
The administrative offices, located at 4470 State Route 222 in Batavia, closed Aug. 12 because of the outage, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post. CCW and background-check services are expected to resume at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.
Patrol deputies were not affected by the outage and remained on duty countywide, the sheriff’s office said.
The office, led by Sheriff Christopher E. Stratton, normally accepts concealed-handgun license applications on a walk-in basis from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Background checks for CCW applicants and other purposes are processed through WebCheck, the state’s electronic fingerprinting system tied to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
