STONELICK TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Stonelick Township’s Board of Trustees has canceled its August meeting because of the township’s ongoing administrative and emergency response to this week’s severe storms, the township said in a Facebook post.
The meeting had been scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Stonelick Township Fire Department, 2541 U.S. Route 50, according to a notice posted by the township. Trustees are now expected to reconvene at their next regular meeting Sept. 2, the township said.
Severe storms tore through Stonelick Township on Tuesday, snapping utility poles and downing trees onto homes, vehicles and roadways, leaving most of the township without power, according to Stonelick Township Fire and EMS. The department logged more than 70 calls for service in the 24 hours after the storms hit and warned that several roads remained impassable, with outages that could last for days as crews worked to clear debris and restore electricity.
Stonelick Township trustees typically meet the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the fire department, according to the township website. The three-member board is made up of David Pennington, who began his term as trustee in January 2020; Naomi Blankenship, a trustee since 2018; and Edward “Moe” Cooper, also a trustee since 2018, according to the township. Tracey Sumner has served as the township’s fiscal officer since her appointment in November 2000.
