BATAVIA, Ohio — Power outages affecting the Eastgate and Batavia areas Monday left some Clermont County residents without electricity, but two branches of the Clermont County Public Library remained open with power through the evening, the library said in a Facebook post.

The library’s Union Township and Batavia branches had power and were open until 8 p.m. Monday, giving residents who lost electricity at home a place to charge devices, connect to Wi-Fi and access library services, according to the library.

The Clermont County Public Library system operates 10 branches across the county, including locations in Amelia, Bethel, Goshen, Milford, New Richmond, Owensville, Union Township and Williamsburg in addition to Batavia. The system has provided library service to county residents since 1955, following a countywide vote establishing it in 1948.
