LOVELAND, Ohio — Loveland City Council on Tuesday approved the sale of a conservation easement along Riverside Drive to the Little Miami Conservancy, awarded a right-of-way consulting contract tied to a long-planned sidewalk project and appointed a new member to the city’s Finance Commission, according to a post from Loveland City Government.
Council members met Aug. 25 at Loveland City Hall for their regular biweekly session, which is typically held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.
Under an ordinance approved at the meeting, the city will sell a conservation easement over a portion of city-owned property along Riverside Drive to the Little Miami Conservancy, a nonprofit land trust founded in 1967 to protect and restore the Little Miami National Wild and Scenic River. The conservancy has restored roughly 100 miles of the river to what it describes as exceptional health and has established more than 120 nature preserves along the river and its tributaries, according to the organization.
Council also approved a contract with West Erie Realty Solutions LTD for right-of-way acquisition consulting services tied to the State Route 48 and Butterworth Road Sidewalks Project. The project calls for building sidewalks from Blossom View Drive to Butterworth Road and extending them down Butterworth Road into the Butterworth Glen subdivision, connecting more than 400 homes in the city’s Warren County section to downtown Loveland, according to the city. Design work on the project began in 2024, and construction is expected to start in spring 2028, the city said.
In other business, council authorized a purchase order with Capital Electric for traffic signal improvements at the intersection of West Loveland Avenue and Lebanon Road, and approved emergency ordinances assessing annual lighting district maintenance and operation costs for several residential subdivisions that span Warren and Clermont counties.
Council also appointed John Rost to the city’s five-member Finance Commission, which provides oversight of the annual operating budget and advises council on the city’s short- and long-range financial policy, according to the city.
The next Loveland City Council meeting is scheduled for Sept. 8.
