BATAVIA, Ohio — The Village of Batavia has launched a free text alert system that will notify residents of road closures, meeting changes, severe weather and other announcements directly on their phones, the village said in a Facebook post.

Residents can sign up at bataviaoh.gov/events, where a text alert registration form sits just below the village’s newsletter sign-up. After entering a mobile number, subscribers receive an immediate confirmation text. The service is free and opt-in, and subscribers can cancel at any time by replying “STOP.” Standard message and data rates may apply, the village said.
