BATAVIA, Ohio — Clermont County commissioners voted Aug. 20 to seek bids for the replacement of a bridge on Marathon-Edenton Road in Wayne Township and to formally back the city of Loveland’s bid for federal grant money to buy a police drone, according to meeting minutes approved by the board.
The board authorized the county engineer’s office to advertise for bids on the Marathon-Edenton Road Bridge Replacement project, listed as Project WA-11-24 and county bridge number C82-5.68. A legal notice is set to run Aug. 27, with bids due by 2 p.m. Sept. 17 through the Bid Express online bidding service, according to the county.
Commissioners also authorized a letter of support for Loveland’s application to the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, which the city is pursuing to fund the purchase of an unmanned aerial vehicle, or drone, for its police department. Clermont County Emergency Management Agency Director Shawn Riley executed the letter on Aug. 10 on the county’s behalf, according to the minutes.
In other action, the board approved a $18,332 change order for the Filager Campus Improvement Phase 2 project, adding two catch basins, a 6-inch post indicator valve, and additional excavation and grading. The change did not affect the contract’s total price or completion date. Facilities Management Director Ronnie Ross updated commissioners on the project and a recent soil stabilization issue at the site, the minutes said.
Commissioners also approved payment of $2,045,092.18 in vendor bills as part of the meeting’s consent agenda, along with routine budget transfers and travel reimbursements for county employees.
