AMELIA, Ohio — Pierce Township will host a free Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Spencer Shank Memorial Park, giving families a chance to climb aboard fire engines, police cruisers and other emergency and public works vehicles, the township said in a Facebook post.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park, 60 Robin Way in Amelia. Vehicles on display will include a fire engine, a police cruiser, a SWAT vehicle, an Ohio LandSAR search-and-rescue vehicle, a K-9 unit, a Special Response Team Bearcat armored vehicle, a skid steer, a dump truck, a snow plow and a mini excavator, according to the township.
The first hour of the event, from 10 to 11 a.m., will be set aside as “quiet touch time” for children with special needs, the township said. Food trucks, including Order Up and Kona Ice, will also be on-site.
Spencer Shank Memorial Park is an 11-acre township park that includes a playground, a disc golf course, basketball courts, fitness equipment and a half-mile walking path, along with the Great Amelia Paw Park dog park.
Updates on any weather-related changes to the Sept. 19 event will be posted to the township’s website, piercetownship.org, and its Facebook page, the township said.
