Billion dollar drug factory eyeing Clermont County for operations

WILLIAMSBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Swiss drug manufacturer Lonza is considering building a $1 billion pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Clermont County that could bring 650 jobs to the area.

The proposed plant would be located on about 160 acres in the northwest corner of Half Acre Road and state Route 32 in Williamsburg Township. Clermont County currently owns the parcels.

Lonza is conducting a nationwide search for the site and is weighing offers from Ohio, Texas, North Carolina and Virginia. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority this week approved a 20-year, 1.86% job creation tax credit for the project, worth about $930,000 annually to the company.
