BATAVIA, Ohio — The Clermont County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved recommendations for nearly $2.3 million in federal grant funding for 22 local projects, including affordable housing, road improvements and social services across the county.
The funding includes about $1.06 million through the federal Community Development Block Grant program and $498,043 through the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, according to the county. The 22 projects were selected from more than 35 submissions.
“These investments strengthen neighborhoods while improving opportunities for families throughout Clermont County,” said Bonnie Batchler, president of the Board of Commissioners, in a statement. “Our federal partnerships continue to make meaningful investments in housing, infrastructure, and public services across the county.”
Housing projects include four affordable homes to be managed by the Clermont Metropolitan Housing Authority and the Clermont Housing Development Corp., two Habitat for Humanity homes, a down payment assistance program for first-time homebuyers and a home repair program for qualified homeowners.
Infrastructure funding will go toward Robbie Ridge Road in Milford, the second phase of a Summerside Road sidewalk project in Union Township, riverfront parking in New Richmond, the Neville boat ramp and a community amphitheater in Franklin Township.
The remaining funds will support services including senior assistance, food programs, workforce development, homelessness prevention and addiction recovery.
The public may comment on the funding recommendations through Friday, Aug. 14.
Clermont County has been a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development entitlement community since 2015 and has distributed more than $15 million in federal funding to local governments and nonprofits in that time, the county said.
