BATAVIA, Ohio — The Village of Batavia will host a public town hall on the local income tax Monday, July 20, with a Regional Income Tax Agency representative on hand to explain how the tax works and to answer residents’ questions directly.
The meeting runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at Auxier Hall inside the village municipal building at 65 N. Second St., the village said in a Facebook post. RITA agent Angela Veazey will present information on the village income tax and then remain to field questions from the audience.
“Come with your questions!” the village wrote.

Batavia levies a 1% municipal income tax, a rate that has been in effect since Jan. 1, 2020. The tax is collected by the Regional Income Tax Agency, a public body known as RITA that administers municipal income taxes for more than 400 communities across Ohio. The village turned collection of its tax over to RITA on July 1, 2019.
Under the village’s current rules, Batavia does not grant residents a credit for income taxes paid to other municipalities, meaning residents who work in another taxing community may owe the village tax in addition to what is withheld where they work. Questions about withholding, filing and credits are among the topics residents can raise directly with the RITA representative at the meeting.
Auxier Hall, part of the village’s historic North Second Street municipal building, seats up to 221 people and regularly serves as the setting for village gatherings and rentals. Batavia, the seat of Clermont County, is led by Mayor C. Scott Runck, who was sworn into office Jan. 1, 2024.
The town hall is free and open to village residents.
