BATAVIA, Ohio — Clermont County commissioners are set to seek state funding for a $78.5 million wastewater treatment plant expansion, authorize an application for a $2.35 million water main replacement and schedule a public hearing on a contested road vacation when they meet Wednesday, Aug. 26.
The regular session is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the county administration building, 101 E. Main St. in Batavia, according to the board’s draft agenda.
Commissioners would adopt Resolution No. 131-26 authorizing an application to the Ohio Public Works Commission for the Lower East Fork Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements project in Miami Township, seeking a $1 million loan toward the $78.5 million project, with the county covering the remaining $77.5 million local match, according to the agenda. A separate application, Resolution No. 130-26, would seek a $1 million grant toward a $2.35 million water main replacement project on state Route 276 in Williamsburg and Jackson townships, with a $1.35 million local match.
The board is also scheduled to adopt a resolution acknowledging a Washington Township trustees’ request to vacate a portion of Big Indian Road, setting a viewing of the site for 9 a.m. Oct. 6 and a public hearing for 11 a.m. Oct. 7 at the commissioners’ office in Batavia, the agenda said. Commissioners voted 2-1 in July to move forward with the township’s request, over the objection of a commissioner who wanted to wait for a related court appeal to be resolved.
Commissioners would also approve two change orders to the Filager Campus Improvement Phase 2 contract with Graybach of Cincinnati, including $174,049.97 in contingency funds to stabilize soil, lower the water table and regrade part of the site, with a future time extension but no increase to the overall contract price, according to the agenda.
The board is scheduled to authorize seeking proposals for senior citizen services for 2027, with a legal notice to run Sept. 3 and proposals due by 2 p.m. Oct. 1, the agenda said.
Commissioners are also set to proclaim August as “Ohio Proud Week” and September as “National Recovery Month” in Clermont County, and to hear presentations from Cardinal Land Conservancy on a state Clean Ohio grant application for the Fix property in Jackson Township and from insurance consultant USI Insurance Services on county employee health benefits, according to the agenda.
