WILLIAMSBURG, Ohio — A local relief organization will hold a drive-through giveaway of frozen and refrigerated food Friday for Clermont County residents who lost groceries during last week’s widespread power outages.
Williamsburg Community Mission will distribute the food starting at 10 a.m. Friday at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 330 Gay St., and will continue until supplies run out, according to the organization. No one will be allowed into the church parking lot before 10 a.m.
Volunteers wearing red shirts will direct traffic. Drivers are asked to enter the lot from Gay Street and exit onto Third Street, the organization said.
The giveaway is intended for residents who lost frozen and refrigerated food after storms knocked out power across Clermont County last week. Duke Energy estimated at the outage’s peak that about 40,000 customers in the county had lost power, with outages persisting for several days in some areas.
The storms brought damaging wind and rain to Greater Cincinnati, with the central and eastern parts of Clermont County among the hardest hit, according to the county.
Duke Energy donated $100,000 to fund the relief effort, which is being coordinated by the Free Store Food Bank alongside local food pantries across the region, the county said.
