AMELIA, Ohio — The Monroe Township Zoning Commission will hold a public working session Nov. 18 to consider a request to rezone two parcels on St. Rt. 125 in Amelia from residential to commercial use, according to a legal notice posted by the township.
The session is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Monroe Township Building, 2828 State Route 222 in Bethel, and is open to the public.
The request was filed on behalf of property owner Irene DeWeese and covers two parcels, addressed at 2161 and 2167 St. Rt. 125 in Amelia, the township said. The amendment would change the zoning designation on both parcels from residential A-1 to commercial B-2.
Documents related to the proposed change are available for public inspection at the Monroe Township Zoning Department, at the same Bethel address, Monday through Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. by appointment, the township said. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 513-987-7275.
The Zoning Commission is an independent, five-member panel appointed by the Monroe Township Board of Trustees to review petitions seeking changes to the township’s zoning resolution text or district map, according to the township. It convenes only when such petitions are filed rather than on a fixed schedule. George Ison chairs the commission; Kristin Bennett serves as the township’s zoning inspector.
