BATAVIA, Ohio — The Clermont County Park District will host a free costume and clothing swap at Pattison Lodge this Wednesday, inviting residents to pick up secondhand Halloween costumes and everyday clothing at no cost.
The Spooky Costume and Clothing Swap runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pattison Lodge, inside Pattison Park at 2228 U.S. 50 in Batavia, according to the park district. The event is free and open to “monsters of all ages,” the park district said, and residents do not need to bring clothes of their own in order to take items home.
Along with costume pieces, the swap will offer everyday clothing and outerwear for men, women and children, the park district said. Visitors can also make a no-sew T-shirt bag and build an essential-oil scent packet for their closet while at the event.

The park district framed the event as a nature-themed alternative to buying new costumes, suggesting swap-goers assemble looks such as Smokey Bear, a bat or a rosy maple moth from the donated clothing on hand.

Pattison Park’s 45 acres include a pond with a paved walking path, an accessible fishing deck, nature trails, a playground and a sensory garden, according to the park district. Pattison Lodge, the event’s venue, can hold up to 250 guests and sits within the park, which the park district said was donated by Aletheia Pattison.

The Clermont County Park District was established Feb. 5, 1970, by order of then-Probate Judge Charles Jackson, and its first park was a former Rotary Club park in Batavia later renamed Sycamore Park, according to the park district. The district now manages more than 1,000 acres across five parks and four nature preserves, along with the Williamsburg-to-Batavia Bike Trail. Its stated mission is “to seek, discover, and enhance Clermont County’s natural abundance,” and its programming includes pollinator gardens, wetlands restoration and invasive-species removal in partnership with the Clermont Soil and Water Conservation District and the Ohio EPA.
