PIERCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Pierce Township trustees have given the township new authority to mark off no-parking and no-stopping zones on public rights-of-way and township-owned property, with violators subject to towing and a minor misdemeanor charge under a resolution adopted July 22.

The Board of Trustees approved Resolution No. 2026-004 in a public meeting, citing Ohio Revised Code 505.17, which empowers townships to regulate vehicle parking within their unincorporated territory, according to the resolution. That authority extends to established roadways near buildings on private property as well as land owned by the township, the document states.

Under the resolution, the township will designate no-stopping and no-parking zones and mark them with traffic control signage. Stopping, standing or parking a vehicle in a marked zone will be prohibited, according to the resolution.
