UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Union Township will cut the ribbon on a new mural celebrating the community’s farming heritage next week, part of a countywide effort to mark the nation’s 250th birthday with public art.
The dedication ceremony is set for 10 a.m. Sept. 17 outside RJ Cinema at 4450 Eastgate Square Drive, according to a Facebook post from Discover Clermont, the marketing arm of the Clermont County Convention & Visitors Bureau. The mural, painted on the side of the cinema and bar built into the Jungle Jim’s Eastgate plaza, depicts rolling farm fields, produce and cartoonish cows, with playful nods to the nearby Jungle Jim’s grocery store woven into the design, the bureau said in the post.
The artwork is the latest addition to the America 250-Clermont County mural trail, a project the visitors bureau launched to illustrate local history and community pride ahead of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in July 2026. The effort is co-chaired by Jeff Blom, president of the Clermont County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Judi Adams, co-chair of the Bethel Historical Society and Museum, according to the bureau’s website.
Similar murals have already gone up in Bethel, Goshen, Loveland, Miami Township, Milford, New Richmond, Owensville, Williamsburg and Batavia, each designed to reflect the history or character of its own community, the bureau’s website shows. The Union Township mural is the program’s entry for the township, which sits at the commercial heart of the county along State Route 32 near Eastgate.
The public is invited to attend next week’s ribbon-cutting, the bureau said in its post.
