BATAVIA, Ohio — West Clermont Local Schools will host a free back-to-school event next week, giving families a chance to pick up backpacks and school supplies before classes resume next month.
The district’s “Stay in the Game Palooza” is set for Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at West Clermont Stadium, 4101 Bach Buxton Road in Batavia, the district said in a social media post. The event is open to the community and will include free backpacks, school supplies, activities and information from community partners, according to the district.
The giveaway comes as West Clermont prepares for a phased start to the 2026-2027 school year. Sixth and ninth graders, along with kindergarten-through-fifth-grade students whose last names begin with A through M, return Aug. 18. The remaining students in grades seven, eight and nine through 12, along with K-5 students whose last names begin with N through Z, start the next day. All students will be in session together starting Aug. 20.
West Clermont Local Schools serves more than 8,000 students across nine buildings — one high school, one middle school and seven elementary schools — covering roughly 54 square miles that include Union Township, the former village of Amelia, Mount Carmel and portions of Batavia, Monroe and Pierce townships. The district was reorganized in 2017, when its two former high schools, Amelia and Glen Este, were consolidated into the single West Clermont High School, along with its two middle schools.
West Clermont Stadium, the site of next week’s event, opened in 2017 and seats more than 5,000 people. The district-owned facility features an artificial playing surface, a video scoreboard and a track, and serves as the home venue for West Clermont athletics.
