UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Baldwin Road has reopened to through traffic after crews completed a landslide repair project that closed the roadway for more than a month, the Clermont County Engineer’s Office said in a Facebook post.
The repair covered a stretch of Baldwin Road that closed Aug. 17 for a landslide that had damaged the roadway, with the closure originally expected to run through Sept. 18, according to the engineer’s office and prior township announcements.
The project is part of the county engineer’s 2024 Landslides Project, which also addresses embankment failures at Hopper Hill Road, Coombs Road and Moscow Cemetery Road elsewhere in Clermont County. All four sites shared the same underlying problem: an embankment failure that narrowed the roadway for travelers, according to the engineer’s office.
The county engineer’s office applied for funding through the Ohio Public Works Commission in September 2023. The OPWC board approved the funding agreement in September 2024, and the county engineer executed the grant agreement that July, the office said.
Baldwin Road runs through Union Township, Clermont County’s most populous township, with an estimated population approaching 52,000. The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees: John Becker, Joe Dills and Michael Logue.
