BATAVIA, Ohio — A TriHealth 3D mobile mammography van will park at the Batavia Township Community Center and Park on Friday, Oct. 23, giving residents a chance to get a breast cancer screening without a trip to a hospital or imaging center.
The van will be stationed at the community center, 1535 Clough Pike, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Batavia Township said in a social media post. Appointments were still available as of this week, and residents can schedule one by calling 513-569-6565.
TriHealth’s mobile unit uses 3D digital tomosynthesis imaging with artificial intelligence-assisted analysis, technology the health system says provides more accurate detection of early-stage breast cancer than standard 2D mammography. Screening mammograms aboard the van are available to women 40 and older, as well as women ages 35 to 39 with a family history of breast cancer, according to TriHealth. Each exam takes about 20 minutes, and results are typically posted to patients’ TriHealth MyChart accounts within 24 to 48 hours.
The van travels weekly to community and business locations across TriHealth’s four-county Greater Cincinnati service area, part of the health system’s effort to reach women who might otherwise go without regular screening. Most insurance plans cover the exam, and TriHealth said funding sources may be available for women who are uninsured or underinsured.
The stop will be held at the township’s 71-acre community park, which includes a .57-acre fishing pond, 1.25 miles of paved walking trails, a splash pad, sports fields and the Batavia Township Veterans Memorial.
