BATAVIA, Ohio — Batavia business owners can learn how to apply for federal disaster assistance tied to this summer’s severe storms at a free luncheon the village is hosting with the U.S. Small Business Administration on Nov. 16.
The Small Business Resources Presentation, organized by the Village of Batavia, will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Auxier Hall inside Village Hall, 65 N. Second St. Lunch will be provided at no cost, according to the village.
The session comes after President Donald Trump approved a major disaster declaration for Clermont County and six other Ohio counties on Oct. 2, following severe weather that struck the region in mid-August. The storms brought flooding, downed trees, multiple road closures and left thousands without power for days, according to Clermont County.
Representatives from the SBA’s Office of Disaster Recovery will explain which businesses qualify for disaster loans and how to apply, the village said. Businesses that suffered no physical damage may still be eligible for assistance, according to the post announcing the event.
Village leaders also plan to update attendees on the state of Batavia’s business community and what’s ahead, the village said.
Business owners who want to attend must RSVP by Nov. 6 by calling the village clerk’s office at 513-732-2020 or emailing [email protected] with their name, business and the number of people attending.
