OWENSVILLE, Ohio — The Clermont County Fair returns to the Clermont County Fairgrounds July 26 through Aug. 1, bringing livestock shows, 4-H exhibits, carnival rides and live entertainment to one of the county’s longest-running summer traditions, according to Discover Clermont, the county’s convention and visitors bureau.
The fair will be held at the fairgrounds at 1000 Locust Street, with a midway of carnival rides, fair food and games running alongside exhibitor competitions, the bureau said in a Facebook post. A full schedule of events is posted on the fair’s website, clermontcountyfair.com.
The Clermont County Agricultural Society, which organizes the fair, was formed June 9, 1849, and held its first fair that September in Bantam, drawing about 2,000 people, according to the society’s historical records. The fair later moved to Olive Branch in 1857 before settling permanently in Owensville in 1864, where it has been held every year since.
The fairgrounds expanded over the following decades. An additional 25 acres were purchased in 1910 to enlarge the property, and its first grandstand was built the following year, the historical account shows.
This year’s fair will again showcase 4-H exhibitors and their livestock projects alongside entertainment acts and midway rides that have drawn generations of Clermont County families, according to Discover Clermont.
