LOVELAND, Ohio — Loveland residents have until Oct. 4 to get brush piles curbside, as the city’s annual fall brush and leaf collection programs kick off next month, according to the city.
Brush collection begins Monday, Oct. 5, and runs for about two weeks through Oct. 19, the city said. Residents must place brush at the curb by the Sunday before pickup begins. Under the city’s guidelines, limbs cannot exceed 10 inches in diameter, cut sections must face the street in a uniform direction, and small twigs should be bundled to no more than 12 inches in diameter and tied with twine. Leaves, pine needles, grass clippings, bamboo and other yard waste are not accepted in brush piles because they can clog collection equipment, and materials that don’t meet the guidelines will be left behind, according to the city.
Leaf collection begins Monday, Oct. 12, using mechanical vacuum equipment that makes two passes through each neighborhood, the city said. Collection is organized into six waves covering different sections of the city, with each wave receiving two scheduled pickup dates between Oct. 12 and Nov. 19.
For both programs, residents are asked to rake or place material in the grass behind the curb — never in the street, gutters, ditches or on sidewalks — and to keep piles clear of fire hydrants. The city also asks residents to remove basketball hoops and other obstacles from collection areas so equipment can get through.
Residents who miss the scheduled windows can use the city’s year-round drop-off option: free vouchers, available at City Hall on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for yard waste disposal at Evans Landscaping, according to the city.
Full collection schedules and neighborhood wave dates are posted on the city’s website.
