MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A longtime member of the Miami Township Recreation Department staff will lead this year’s holiday parade down state Route 28 after township officials surprised her with the honor on her birthday.
Beth Veite, who has served as the department’s administrative assistant for nearly 20 years, will serve as grand marshal of the Miami Township Holiday Parade on Nov. 19, the township said in a Facebook post. Officials presented Veite with the news in a surprise announcement at the recreation office on a Friday that fell on her birthday, according to the post.

Veite is nearing retirement after two decades with the department, and the township said the grand marshal honor was chosen to recognize her years of dedication and service to the community.
The Miami Township Holiday Parade is organized each year by the township’s Recreation Department and has grown into one of the community’s largest annual gatherings, drawing high school marching bands, lighted floats, local businesses, churches, school groups and civic organizations, along with the township’s fire, police and service departments. In 2025, the parade marked its 18th year, stepping off from Miami Plaza near Mosaic Church and proceeding along state Route 28 to the Meijer store.
Miami Township was established in 1801 as one of Clermont County’s original five townships. It was first named O’Bannon Township after county surveyor John O’Bannon before being renamed for the Little Miami River, which runs through the community.
