PIERCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Trick-or-treating in Pierce Township will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, the township said in a Facebook post.
The hours apply across the township, a 23.5-square-mile community in the southwest corner of Clermont County with a population of about 15,100, according to the 2020 census. The Pierce Township Police Department, which patrols the area around the clock, can be reached at 513-752-4100 for non-emergency matters or 513-732-2231 for dispatch.
The department traces its roots to the 1950s, when the township’s police protection consisted of a single full-time constable. It has since grown into a 24-hour operation covering the entire township.
Ahead of the holiday, the Ohio Department of Commerce’s State Fire Marshal’s office is urging residents to take precautions against fire hazards tied to Halloween decorations and costumes. State Fire Marshal Kevin Reardon has said more than a third of Halloween decoration fires are started by candles, and the office recommends using battery-operated candles instead of open flames, keeping decorations away from heat sources, choosing costumes free of long, trailing fabric, and keeping exits clear of decorations. The department’s full Halloween safety guide is posted at com.ohio.gov/HalloweenSafety.
Pierce Township is governed by a three-member Board of Trustees and an elected fiscal officer, who oversee a budget of more than $14 million; a township administrator handles day-to-day operations.
