STONELICK TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Three members of Stonelick Township Fire Department have completed their paramedic certification, the department announced in a Facebook post.
Mackenzie Mercer, Ashley Kuykendall and Misty Nealan graduated from the Paramedic Program at Butler Technology and Career Development Schools in Butler County, the department said.

Becoming a paramedic requires countless hours of classroom instruction, hands-on training and clinical rotations, in addition to time away from family and friends, the department said in the post congratulating the trio on what it called a remarkable achievement.
Butler Tech’s paramedic program is based at the school’s Public Safety Education Complex in Hamilton and combines classroom and laboratory instruction with hospital and field externships, according to the school. Applicants must already hold EMT certification before entering the roughly 10-month paramedic track.

Stonelick Township Fire & Rescue was formed in 2006 from the former Owensville Fire Department. The department now operates two stations, including its headquarters, Station 40 on U.S. 50, which keeps a minimum of two firefighter-paramedics on duty around the clock, supplemented by volunteers. Beyond emergency response, the department conducts fire safety inspections, public fire education and CPR training, and issues burn permits for the township.
“We recognize the commitment each of these individuals has made to further their education, strengthen their skills, and prepare themselves to provide the highest level of care to those we serve,” the department said in its post.
