BATAVIA, Ohio — Clermont County commissioners on Tuesday approved a new all-hazards mitigation plan that will guide the county’s disaster preparedness efforts through 2031 and keep local governments eligible for federal disaster-relief funding.
The plan, developed by the Clermont County Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with every city, village and township in the county, identifies and prioritizes hazards that could affect local jurisdictions and outlines projects intended to eliminate or reduce losses from those hazards, according to the county.
Federal regulations require local governments to update hazard mitigation plans every five years to remain eligible for disaster-relief funding under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. The newly adopted plan is valid through July 15, 2031.
County officials said the plan also establishes a coordinated process for jurisdictions to pursue state and federal grant opportunities for mitigation projects.
