BATAVIA, Ohio — The Clermont County Board of Commissioners will consider reducing speed limits on two busy roads and awarding a nearly $1 million paving contract when it meets at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, according to a draft agenda posted by the county.
Commissioners are scheduled to adopt resolutions asking the Ohio Department of Transportation to lower the speed limit on a 2.7-mile stretch of Clough Pike, from Amelia-Olive Branch Road to the Batavia village corporation line, and on a 1.5-mile section of Gleneste-Withamsville Road, from Clough Pike to Old State Route 74. Both roads are currently posted at 45 mph, according to the county engineer’s office.
The board is also set to award a $935,425 contract to Barrett Paving Materials Inc. of Hamilton for a paving project combining the Clough Pike and AOB road work in Batavia Township, and to approve a $50,604.60 engineering contract with Bayer & Becker Inc. for the David Court area water main replacement project in Miami Township.
Commissioners plan to proclaim Nov. 8-14 as “Veterans’ Awareness Week” in Clermont County and will hear a budget presentation from Emily Akers, director of the county’s Office of Management and Budget. The board is also scheduled to hear from Ronnie Ross of the county’s Facilities Management Department on the Common Pleas Court roof replacement project.
Elsewhere on the agenda, the board is expected to authorize Clermont Transportation Connection to apply for $797,100 through the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Transit Partnership Program for the 2028 state fiscal year, and to approve a 2027 services contract with Clermont Senior Services funded by the county’s 1.3-mill senior citizens levy.
Commissioners are also scheduled to approve supplemental appropriations for the current year, including $1 million for the One Ohio opioid settlement fund, $700,000 for Children’s Services, and $51,204.36 to cover a retirement payout in the sheriff’s court services division, according to the agenda.
