BATAVIA, Ohio — The Village of Batavia will open a dumpster Saturday for residents to dispose of food spoiled during a power outage earlier this week, the village said in a Facebook post.
The dumpster will be at the Village Street Department, 303 Clark St., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The village asked residents to bring only spoiled food items; other household waste should go out with regular trash collection, according to the post.
The village said the need for the dumpster “came up today,” and Public Works crews found room to have it in place by the next morning, on top of a week already spent on storm cleanup. “That is the Public Works crew making room for it on short notice, on top of a week of storm cleanup,” the village said in its post, adding that it reflects “what it looks like when the people making the decision are the same people who live on your street.”
Batavia, platted in 1814, is the seat of Clermont County government and sits along the East Fork of the Little Miami River in the village’s historic downtown.
The village thanked its Public Works crew and its residents “for looking out for each other this week.”
