BETHEL, Ohio — Tate Township will hold a public open house Saturday, July 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. to gather resident feedback on a draft update to its zoning resolution, the township said.
The session will be held in the meeting room at Bethel-Tate Fire Department, 149 N. East St. in Bethel, according to the township. Officials said the draft marks the township’s first comprehensive rewrite of its zoning code in more than 30 years, intended to address land uses and business and technology developments the existing code doesn’t cover and to clear up sections officials said have caused confusion for residents trying to comply with it.
The draft resolution was posted for public review July 17, the township said. A finalized land use plan is also a prerequisite for the township to qualify for certain county funding and assistance, according to the township.
At the open house, residents will be able to review the draft standards, speak directly with township officials and submit comments before the document moves toward a final vote, the township said. Those who can’t attend in person can review the full draft and submit input through an online form linked from the township’s zoning-update webpage, tatetownship.org/planning-and-zoning/zoning-update.
The draft is expected to go through at least three public hearings this fall before reaching a final decision, according to the township’s published timeline. The process calls for a presentation to the Clermont County Planning Commission, a public meeting before the township zoning commission, and a final vote by the Tate Township Board of Trustees, which is made up of John Wilson, Rusty Durbin and Christen Steimle.
