MILFORD, Ohio — Milford closed two sections of Garfield Avenue on Wednesday after trees fell on electrical wires during this week’s storms, the city said in a Facebook post.
The closures cover Garfield Avenue from High Street to the Mill Street intersection, and separately from Apple Street to Choctaw Trail, according to the city. Officials said crews were focused on cleanup efforts throughout the area following the storm damage.
The city said it would keep residents updated on road closures and reopenings as work continues. Brush pickup was scheduled to run all day Wednesday and into Thursday, after which the city said it would reevaluate the collection schedule. Residents were encouraged to download the Milford OTG app for real-time updates on closures and brush pickup.
The closures follow severe thunderstorms that swept Clermont County this week, snapping trees and limbs and knocking out power to roughly 40,000 Duke Energy customers countywide, according to the utility. The storms also prompted road closures in Jackson Township and Batavia Township and led the Clermont County Engineer’s Office to close nine roads because of damage.
