BATAVIA, Ohio — The Batavia Village Council will consider a pre-annexation agreement for a project identified as the Wedge Development when it holds its regular monthly meeting Monday at 7 p.m., according to the village.
The meeting’s agenda also includes a mayoral proclamation, financial reports and a separate agreement covering an electronic sign for Norton at the Red Barn, the village said in a Facebook post. Council members are also scheduled to hear updates from the Police Department, Fire and EMS, Public Works, Zoning and the village solicitor.

The meeting will be held at the village offices at 65 N. Second St., a brick building known as the Armory. Construction on the building began in 1912 and finished the following year on land purchased from Fred Kline and Lena Bunn, with Andrew James serving as architect. The building has since housed village government offices, including the mayor’s office, and more recently space used by the Clermont County Historical Society.
Village Council is led by Mayor C. Scott Runck, who was sworn in Jan. 1, 2024, after previously serving on council and on the Batavia Local School District Board of Education. Runck is a Batavia High School graduate and retired funeral director who worked at Moore Family Funeral Homes. Council’s six members are Vice Mayor Steve Staton and members Laura Zagar, Mark Wilson, Jim Owens, Randy Dorsey and Tom Smith, according to the village.
The village did not detail the terms of the Wedge Development pre-annexation agreement or the scope of the Norton sign agreement ahead of Monday’s vote. A full draft agenda was posted separately by the village for residents who want more detail before the meeting.
Public comment will be accepted during the meeting, with speakers limited to three minutes each, the village said. Batavia, established in 1814, serves as the seat of Clermont County government.
