BATAVIA, Ohio — The Village of Batavia Police Department is recruiting full-time officers with a starting salary of $67,704, the department said in a Facebook post.
The opening comes with 12-hour shifts and every other weekend off, along with the option to pick up paid off-duty details, according to the post. The department described its benefits package as “outstanding,” listing paid vacation, holidays and personal days, primary and secondary insurance, continuous training, and all equipment and uniforms provided.
Among the qualifications spelled out in the post: facial hair and visible tattoos are permitted, a departure from the more restrictive grooming standards some agencies still enforce.
The recruitment push comes under Chief Eric Williams, who was sworn in March 28, 2025, to lead the village’s police force, according to village records.
Batavia, the seat of Clermont County government, has an estimated population of about 2,000, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. The village police department patrols the county-seat community, which sees heavier daytime traffic from the county courthouse and administrative offices than its residential population alone would suggest.
