BATAVIA, Ohio — A flood watch is in effect for Clermont County through Wednesday morning after the National Weather Service in Wilmington issued the alert for most of Greater Cincinnati, according to the county.
The watch, issued Monday, remains in effect until the morning of Aug. 12, the county said.
A flood watch means conditions are favorable for flooding, as opposed to a flood warning, which signals that flooding is imminent or already occurring, according to the county. Officials said the flood risk stems mainly from heavy rain overwhelming creeks, ditches, streams and small rivers.
The Ohio River was not forecast to reach flood stage as of Monday, the county said.
County officials urged residents to monitor weather updates and take precautions ahead of potential flooding.
