JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Jackson Township trustees issued a public clarification this week on how residents can get accurate information about road closures, after fielding a string of questions and comments about the process.
The township said in a Facebook post that it will make every effort to pass along information about closures as it receives them, but it may not always have details on the reason for a closure, how long it will last or when a road will reopen. That information depends on which agency maintains the road, according to the township.
Closures on state-maintained roads are decided by the Ohio Department of Transportation, the township said. Residents can find current state road closures and traffic conditions at ohgo.com/cincinnati or through the OHGO app.
Closures on county-maintained roads are handled by the Clermont County Engineer’s Office, according to the township, which directed residents to clermontengineer.org for current closures and construction updates. The engineer’s office also maintains an online database residents can use to look up which agency is responsible for a specific road, at clermontengineer.org/highway-operations/who-maintains-my-road/.
Jackson Township sits in the northeastern part of Clermont County and has no incorporated village or city within its roughly 31 square miles; its population was 3,089 at the 2020 census, according to U.S. Census figures. The township is governed by a three-member, publicly elected board of trustees, which holds regular business meetings the first Monday of each month at the Jackson Township Community Center on U.S. Route 50 in Williamsburg.
