BATAVIA, Ohio — Kelly Adduci, an art teacher at Batavia Elementary School, has been named the Clermont County Soil & Water Conservation District’s Educator of the Year, Batavia Local Schools said in a Facebook post.
The conservation district presents the honor each year alongside its annual meeting, held this year on Sept. 10 at Winemiller Farms in Blanchester, according to the district’s website.
Adduci has brought conservation themes into her art classroom, including designing a pollinator-themed rain barrel titled “Waggle Here, Waggle There, Pollinators Everywhere” for a regional conservation art contest in 2023, according to contest records.
The Educator of the Year award recognizes a Clermont County teacher each year, and past honorees include Kim Rees in 2022 and Tina Vuyancih and Kim Lewis in 2021, according to the conservation district’s website.
The Clermont County Soil & Water Conservation District was established in 1943 and works to improve and sustain soil and water quality countywide through agricultural services, stormwater programs, education initiatives, grants and cost-share funding, according to the district.
