CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio — A power outage knocked out the traffic signal at Old State Route 74 and Olive Branch-Stonelick Road on Tuesday, and the Clermont County Engineer’s Office is asking drivers to treat the intersection as an all-way stop until power is restored.
Under Ohio traffic law, a dark signal automatically converts an intersection into an all-way stop, the engineer’s office said in a Facebook post. Drivers approaching the crossing must come to a complete stop, yield to any vehicle that arrived first and proceed only when it is safe to do so.
The office urged motorists to use extra caution and build in additional travel time until the outage is fixed, noting that power crews were working to restore the signal.
Old SR 74 is a county-maintained route that runs through Batavia and Union townships and has been the focus of several recent widening and safety projects along the broader Eastern Corridor. The Clermont County Engineer’s Office, led by County Engineer Jeremy P. Evans, is responsible for maintaining the county’s roads, bridges and traffic signals.
