MILFORD, Ohio — The Milford Board of Education approved a school compensation agreement tied to Miami Township’s planned tax increment financing for a 315-unit apartment development during its Oct. 15 meeting, as the board also reviewed first-quarter finances and other district business, according to the district.
The agreement relates to The Conrad, an apartment complex planned for Business 28. Under the township’s existing tax abatement, the district estimated it would receive about $40,000 a year during the first 15 years of the arrangement, rising to about $900,000 a year in years 16 through 30, when the tax increment financing would take effect, according to the district.
Treasurer Doug Ackermann presented a financial update for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, reporting the district had collected $27.6 million of the $83 million in revenue projected for the year. Ackermann noted that some property tax revenue remained outstanding because of later collection cycles, the district said. The finance committee also reported that the Milford Online Academy had grown to 50 students.
In other action, the board authorized the district’s modified tax budget, approved an as-needed van service to help students experiencing homelessness stay connected to their schools, and signed off on a weather-alert service agreement for athletic facilities and an E-rate agreement to access federal discounts on internet connectivity, according to the district.
Board members also recognized McCormick Elementary student artists and the Milford High School Student Council for organizing the school’s Homecoming festivities, and welcomed a group of 20 exchange students from Saint-François d’Assise in France who spent the week attending classes and staying with host families in Milford.
The next regular meeting of the Milford Board of Education is scheduled for Nov. 12.
