BATAVIA, Ohio — Clermont County sheriff’s deputies searched a house in the 200 block of Wood Street late Monday after a relative of the homeowner reported lights on inside a residence and a camper that should have been empty, according to initial emergency radio traffic.
The homeowner was said to be living in a nursing home. A neighbor noticed lights on at the house and in a camper on the property shortly after 9 p.m. Monday and became concerned someone had broken in, prompting the call to dispatchers, radio traffic indicated.
Multiple deputies were dispatched to the scene, and radio traffic indicated units were moved to a separate channel to coordinate the response to what one deputy described as an active break-in.
Deputies searched the house floor by floor, according to the radio traffic. One deputy reported noise coming from an upper floor, and shortly after, radio traffic indicated juvenile suspects had been found inside before fleeing the scene. Deputies continued checking the interior of the house afterward, according to the traffic.
No injuries were reported over the radio, and it was not immediately clear whether anyone was taken into custody.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The information contained in this story was obtained from initial emergency radio traffic monitored by the Clermont Guardian and has not been confirmed by officials. Details may change.
