GOSHEN, Ohio — Goshen Local Schools will host a Financial Aid Information Night for Goshen High School families Wednesday, bringing in a University of Cincinnati financial aid representative to walk parents and students through paying for college or career training.
The event runs from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the high school’s community room, according to a post from the district. The UC representative will cover the different types of aid available — including grants, scholarships, work-study and student loans — and will help families understand the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, commonly known as the FAFSA.
The FAFSA determines a student’s eligibility for federal, state and school-based financial aid. According to Federal Student Aid, the office of the U.S. Department of Education that administers the program, the form opens access to three main categories of aid: grants, which do not have to be repaid; work-study, which lets students earn money through a job to offset costs; and loans, which must be repaid with interest. Submitting the form is free.
District officials said the aid available through the FAFSA isn’t limited to traditional four-year colleges. Financial aid, state grants and federal funding can also be used for technical credentials, trade programs, community college certificates and other career training, according to the district.
All Goshen High School students and parents are welcome to attend, though the district said the session is highly recommended for current seniors. Families with questions can contact the high school’s guidance office.
The 2027-28 FAFSA, which uses 2025 tax information and covers the school year running from July 2027 through June 2028, opened to the public Sept. 23 and remains open through June 30, 2028, according to Federal Student Aid.
Goshen High School, located on Goshen Road in Goshen Township, is the only high school in the Goshen Local School District, which serves students in northeastern Clermont County under Superintendent Brian Bailey.
