BETHEL, Ohio — Three Bethel-Tate High School students took first place in the Connect Clermont Capstone Story Competition for an article celebrating the Legen-Dairy Whip, a longtime ice cream stand in Bethel.
Allison Taylor, Sarah Awe and Mason Warren wrote the winning piece, titled “A Place Which Connects Us All,” the school said in a Facebook post. The three were recognized at the Good News Goes Live Celebration, an event tied to the recent launch of Connect Clermont, a local news and storytelling platform.

Taylor, Awe and Warren are members of the Bethel-Tate High School Content Creator Academy, a program that gives students hands-on experience in media and storytelling. The school said the three have “given us another reason to celebrate our talented Tigers and the community we call home.”
Their award-winning subject, the Legen-Dairy Whip, is a seasonal ice cream and dairy bar at 3376 state Route 125 in Bethel, known locally for its soft-serve flavors and large milkshakes.
Connect Clermont launched this spring with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in April, growing out of the Clermont Agenda for the Future initiative. The platform describes its mission as sharing timely, community-driven stories that highlight youth development, volunteerism and local storytelling across Clermont County.
Bethel-Tate High School, the only high school in the Bethel-Tate Local School District, serves grades 9-12 in the Village of Bethel and Tate Township, about 30 miles east of downtown Cincinnati.
